FilmEU awarded Horizon Europe Project

Lusófona University and FilmEU are thrilled to announce its successful bid, WIRE FilmEU, for the HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-03-01 call, funded by Horizon Europe. The proposal was promoted by the FilmEU Alliance, and aims to drive Research & Innovation capacity building efforts within the alliance, with a specific focus on the participating widening countries.

WIRE (Widening Innovation+Research Excellence in FilmEU) is promoted by all eight HEIs (Higher Education Institutions) currently members of the FilmEU Alliance (The European Universities Alliance for Film and Media Arts European Universities Project: 101004047, EPP-EUR-UNIV-2020 — European Universities, EPLUS2020 Action Grant). The Alliance is led by ULusofona - Lusófona University from Portugal, and other members are the LUCA School of Arts in Belgium, IADT - Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology in Ireland; TLU - Tallinn University, in Estonia, all original members in the FilmEU alliance, that were recently joined by new members VŠMU - Academy of Performing Arts, Slovakia, LMTA - The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, VIA University College, Denmark, and NATFA - The National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts “Krustyo Sarafov”, from Bulgaria.

Horizon Europe, the European Union's flagship research and innovation program, fosters scientific advancements and breakthroughs. Lusófona University's involvement in this project showcases its commitment to innovation, research excellence, and collaborative initiatives.

The WIRE FilmEU project represents a significant opportunity for capacity building and knowledge exchange across the FilmEU Alliance as it will drive a positive change and empower research communities.

The project's primary objective is to enhance research and innovation capacities in the widening countries within the FilmEU Alliance. Through a strategic alliance and interdisciplinary collaboration, Lusófona University and FilmEU Alliance aim to address the specific challenges faced by these countries and stimulate their research ecosystems.

The WIRE FilmEU project will foster comprehensive capacity building programs, including training initiatives, knowledge sharing platforms, and collaborative projects. By leveraging the expertise and resources of the Alliance, Lusófona University and FilmEU will nurture a sustainable research environment, ensuring long-term growth and innovation.

The FilmEU Alliance, which recently saw the approval and further funding that guarantees the continuation of its implementation, is renowned for its expertise in Film and Media Arts and consists of prominent institutions from various European countries. The project's collaboration will facilitate the sharing of best practices, resources, and methodologies, fostering a vibrant network of researchers and professionals.
