FilmEU Stands in Solidarity with FDU Students in Serbia

Most of the FilmEU partner institutions are proud members of CILECT (International Association of Cinema, Audiovisual, and Media Schools). As such, we stand in solidarity with the students and faculty of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDU) at the University of Arts in Belgrade, Serbia, during this challenging time.

CILECT is committed to advancing excellence in education, research, and training in film, television, and media. This mission is deeply rooted in the principles of academic freedom, the free exchange of ideas, and creative expression—values that are essential to both artistic and educational communities.

We strongly uphold the right of students and faculty to engage in learning, discovery, and creative work without fear of repression or restriction. Any actions that undermine academic freedom or violate fundamental human rights, such as the right to peaceful assembly, pose a serious threat to education and society as a whole.

FilmEU echoes CILECT's statement in support of the students and teachers of FDU and their just demands. We stand with them in defending academic freedom and artistic expression.
