Monday Nov 25th, 18h30 - In-person and online free screening
Cinema Fernando Lopes, Lusófona University, Campo Grande, Lisbon
With the recent escalation of violence in Lebanon, resulting in 3,481 victims and 14,786 injured since 8th October 2023 (as of 17th November 2024), and with over a million internally displaced, we must take urgent action.
The Lebanese Red Cross is providing relief to those displaced and injured in an already fragile context. Any funds contributed will greatly support the volunteers of the Lebanese Red Cross in aiding civilians.
We have seen how powerful narratives are in shaping the course of conflicts. For too long, our countries in the Levant have been portrayed solely as sites of inherent tragedy and normalised violence. To combat the dehumanisation of victims, we must reclaim our narratives and tell our own stories.
This curated selection of short films aims to share the stories of Lebanon’s people through the eyes of an emerging generation of Lebanese filmmakers. It includes an animated film set in and about Beirut, alongside two fiction films and a documentary set in Southern Lebanon.
Films:
- Waves 98’ - Ely Dagher
- Sea Salt - Leila Basma
- Love in Galilée - Layla Menhem and Nader Chalhoub
- Under the Robes - Michel Zarazir
